We ship all over Europe - from 5.95 € // We plant one tree for every order

ESG policy

Environment and social responsibility are directly in Pine Cone's DNA. We have a constant focus on not burdening the environment unnecessarily and contribute to the highest social standaerds.

Specifically, we have currently implemented:

  • Over 95% of our textiles are 100% organic - that is, some products are not 100% organic. It will be clear from the product description of the individual product whether the textiles are organic.
  • All components in our products are free of harmful chemicals or materials.
  • All production outside EU are GOTS-certified factories.
  • We plant trees to compensate for CO2 emissions (see more about our collaboration with Tree-nation here)
But our efforts stop far from here. Going forward, our focus will be on reducing our CO2 emissions through environmentally friendly transport and packaging and reducing transport in general.

Why is it that only 95% of Pine Cone's textiles are organic?

In our efforts to become as sustainable as possible, we also need to think about durability (strength of products). The aim is to create products with a long durability and thus puts an end to  the "use-and-throw-away" culture which harms the environment to great extend. If we use exclusively organic textiles in our production, we risk doing our planet a disservice by encouraging, and not putting an end to, the "use-and-throw-away" culture - simply because the products are not durable and long-lasting.

As an example, our foam furniture series, Happy Play, is upholstered in 100% organic cotton canvas. On the other hand, in the production of children's clothes, which uses a thinner textile and washed more often, 10% -50% other fiber can be added, which is not organic but extends the life of the product considerably.

Is Pine Cone GOTS-certified?

No, neither Pine Cone as a brand nor Linnebjerg Living ApS is GOTS-certified. But we only use GOTS-certified suppliers outside the EU. We do this to ensure that all stages of production are in accordance with international "best-practice" in all respects in relation to the environment, corporate governance and social responsibility.

It is an independent goal that Linnebjerg Living ApS must be GOTS-certified. When we are not already, it is because such certification - despite the high cost - will not change in our ESG (Environmental, social and corporate governance) objectives or impact. But that does not change the fact that it is an objective to obtain such certification.

What is GOTS?

GOTS is an abbreviation for Global Organic Textile Standard

GOTS is the most widely used certification in organic textiles, which can be clothes, blankets, bedding, towels, yes all kinds of textiles that can be made from natural fibers from eg cotton, wool, silk.

GOTS further ensures proper working conditions for those who produce the textiles. At the same time, they are looking for a product that is completely organic, from harvest to finished product. All the requirements GOTS makes of a manufacturer will be checked.
